I've spent 20+ years doing some version or another of my dream job: wrestling words into sentences that land. I've written and ghostwritten almost every kind of text there is to write, including memoir and nonfiction books of many stripes, podcast scripts, newsletters, reported features, and captions about jeans. I'm a former senior editor and editor-in-chief with deep experience vetting pitches and shaping personal essays. I've worked with dozens of writers on hundreds of stories. I'm a compassionate, thoughtful editor. I know what trips us up.
As a creative consultant and adviser, I love helping punch up everything from book proposals to drab marketing copy; focus fuzzy, not-quite-formed ideas; build structure and outlines; make bland writing vibrant and distinct; and collaborate on identifying a project's just-right original (human!) voice. These days, I'm especially keen on building a generative creative community, facilitating a regular writing practice, and helping writers start or finish stalled or long-abandoned work.

I’m available for half-hour and hourly consultations about all things writing and publishing, including talking out ideas, pitching, and helping you get creatively unstuck.

Ghostwriting and development editing

Editorial & content strategy
I often work with individual clients and companies on out-of-the-box editorial projects, helping to develop and execute ideas and larger made-to-order content strategies.
